If like me you're a fan of classic sailing craft why not support the publication of this book! Luke has led the production of replica pilot cutters since his first built, Eve of St Mawes. These replica's of working boats compliment any harbour scene and keep alive days gone by along our coastline.

Luke's boats are works of art and no doubt the new book will show them at their best!

STS Lord Nelson

Outbound from Bristol City Docks today with assistance from the tug Damen Stan tug Bristolian. The tug held the tall ship in the River off Pill whilst the water level reduced enough for her to pass under the M5 Bridge.

Steam Yacht 'Amazon'

Outbound from the River Avon today and off into the Bristol Channel. Once owned by Dads Army actor Arthur Lowe. I understand she is off to the Thames for the Jubilee Celebrations.

Having arrived at Par on the railtour we joined two fellow adventurers and headed across to Fowey. With the sign spotted on the way in for 'boat hire' and the chance to go exploring off we went to the quayside and hired a boat! Having not spent any time in Fowey it was great to get afloat and see the cornish village at its best - from the water!

Two Cornish Shrimpers on the moorings, ideal boats for the area!

I will always have a soft spot for Plymouth Pilot's as seen here. My first boat was one of these.

And here's my next boat - a bigger version of our Fisher 25 the impressive 37 . . . one day!

Fowey Tugs

Fowey Harbour Commision have a variety of tugs on station at the Cornish Port. Here's the fleet . . .

The small twin screw tug/pilot/workboat Penleath.

On the moorings we see all 3 tugs of the current fleet, From left to right we see Cormilan, Morgawr and Tregeagle.

Cormilan is the former Svitzer tug Coatham Cross, originally built for service on the Tees.

Alongside Cormilan is the familiar shape of the former Cory Towage 'H Boat'  Holmgarth. She served in the Bristol Channel until being bought by Fowey a few years ago. During my time with Svitzer I crewed on her and her sister Hallgarth, now St Piran a number of times. Morgawr still works alongside her former Cardiff South Wales sister occasionally at Falmouth. It is pleasing to see these two familiar tugs being so well cared for in their new roles.

The 'old timer' Tregeagle awaiting sale.

Another look at Holmgarth . . . sorry Morgawr.
