SD Hercules

The first of 16 tugs to enter service for Serco Marine Services and part of a 29 vessel order. SD Hercules has now been in service for her owners since completion by Damen Shipyards in early 2009. Here we see her in and around Devonport on Friday 22nd July.

Pont Aven departing Plymouth on Friday 22nd July

Looking rather boxy compared to her fleetmate we see Amorique departing Plymouth on Wednesday 20th July.

Scillonian III - Thursday 21 July 2011

Heading across Mounts Bay returning to Penzance in wonderful evening light.

VIC 24 (Advance)

On the bank or the River Plym we see the steam powered VIC 24 laid up. The vessel has been here for many years and believed to have been scrapped by many but as the below pictures show she remains - and in near original condition.

Bristol Temple Meads - 17th July 2011

Two steam specials are operating out of Bristol on summer Sundays, the Torbay Express to Kingswear and the Weymouth Seaside Express (to Weymouth!).

Here we see both returning to Bristol Temple Meads this evening.

The Torbay Express was first to arrive behind replica A1 Tornado .

The two meet . .

Note - Above pictures and video taken with an iPhone 4.

An afternoon on MV Balmoral - Monday 11th July.

Keeping the tradition alive MV Balmoral has spent the last week on the Bristol Channel. Here we take an afternoon cruise to Minehead on Monday 11th July from Penarth Pier.

The ship arrives from Clevedon, only her second day in service this year.

The Forward lounge/bar has been refitted to a high standard over the winter months . .

. . . thanks to a grant from 'The Peoples Millions'.

Pasing the BBC Orinoco inbound for Royal Portbury Dock.

Great cruising weather!

Alongside at Minehead with passenger transfer underway.

About to depart for a cruise of Porlock Bay.

At minehead station we saw Braunton - a West Country Class Pacific.

Bal returning from her cruise. Together with Waverley the ships provide a now unique opportunity for many to see the UK coastline.

Approaching Minehead.

Alongside at Minehead.

Passengers enjoying the cruise back to Penrth.

A rather misleading bit of marketing at Penarth Pier!

Outbound for Clevedon.
