PS Waverley - River Thames Cruise

A selection of pictures from a cruise yesterday on Waverley from London Tower Pier to Southend.

Having swung the ship is guided through Tower Bridge by the tug General VII.

Passenger transfer complete at Southend and a near capacity crowd heads for a cruise up the River Thames.

Those who left the ship at Southend had the opportunity to travel up the 2300 metre pier by train or walk.

Having survived the walk, and overtaken the ship by train, here we see Waverley passing under Tower Bridge once more.  In the Pool of London HMS Belfast had the Southampton yard of Vosper Thorneycroft built Brazilian Navy Ship Brazil moored alongside her. She is used as a training ship for Navy for its 110 strong fleet which included many ex Royal Navy vessels.

A final glimpse of Waverley for 2013 for me, probably, as she heads back down River for Gravesend and Southend.

Excellent shots of a great day on the Thames Chris. Particularly like the one of her heading back down river. So much to see, and shows how many vessels navigating the River must make it extremely difficult for the Skippers.
